SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been going great guns in the USA, having won a slew of awards inlcuding the New York Film Circle Award. Now, the film is in the reckoning for the Oscars. The nominations for these prestigeous awards will be announced on January 23.
Several film buffs from Hollywood have been betting on the film to impress the Oscars members. Latest, the USA Today, an American newspaper, thought 10 performances as worthy for consideration for his year’s Oscar race. And Jr NTR’s performance in RRR made the cut. What is interesting is Jr NTR is featured along with Hollywood leading star Tom Cruise for this list.

Academy, is it possible to go halfsies on a best actor nod? Because this action-packed musical adventure’s two Indian mega-stars are what makes “RRR” such an audience-friendly powerhouse: Ram Charan’s British army soldier and Rao’s loyal warrior become friends, butt heads as foes and then come back together as a fighting force, with an all-time bromance and an amazing dance-off along the way. If we have to pick, though, the charismatic Rao has the edge for leading an army of wild animals and juggling a motorcycle with ease. – Brian Truitt
The film has to be first nominated before it is considered for the Oscar Award. So, everybody is eagerly waiting for the nominations on January 24.
